How to Upgrade Google Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) on Blogger Website

Google will stop Universal Analytics on 1st July 2023, so you can upgrade to Google Analytics 4 now. What is Google Analytics 4?

Google Analytics 4 is a new web analytics tool that analyzes customer metrics beyond traffic tracking. Google Analytics 4 tracks all customer interactions on different platforms and uses AI to gain insights. It prioritizes customer privacy. Despite privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA, GA4 offers advanced insights with privacy-focused tracking, cross-channel data measurement, and AI-driven predictive analytics.


How to Set Up Google Analytics 4?

Since Google Analytics 4 can be used for your website or application (or both), there are two separate setup processes. They are outlined below.


Alongside an Existing Universal Analytics Property

If you currently have a Universal Analytics property for your website, then set up of a Google Analytics 4 property can be completed with the GA4 Setup Assistant.


  1. Login with your Analytics Account.
  2. In Google Analytics, hover over the gear icon / click Setting » "Admin"At the bottom left of the page.
  3. You can have multiple accounts in Google Analytics. Each account can have multiple properties. In the account column, select determines which properties you can upgrade to GA4. From the Admin page, you can navigate to your different accounts and properties using the drop-downs along the top of the page.
  4. In the Property column, select the Universal Analytics property that currently collects data for your website.
  5. Now you should get the following warning message
  6. A On July 1, 2023, this property will stop processing data. Starting in March 2023, for continued website measurement, migrate your original property settings to a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property, or they'll be copied for you to an existing GA4 property, reusing existing site tags.   Dismiss  Learn more     Manage GA4 migration

  • Click on the Manage GA4 Migration then, you will redirect to GA4 Setup Assistant otherwise in the Property column, select GA4 Setup Assistant.
  • Click on "Get started" under "I want to create a new Google Analytics 4 property."
  • If your site uses the gtag.js tag, you can "Enable data collection using your existing tags." Click on "Create Property."
  • Now your Google Analytics 4 connected with Google Universal Analytics
  • If you are unable to "Enable data collection using your existing tags," it’s for one of three reasons.
    • Your website builder/CMS doesn’t yet support the gtag.js tag.
    • You are using Google Tag Manager.
    • Your website is tagged with analytics.js.

    In all three cases, you’ll need to add the tag yourself.

  • Click on Click on your GA4 property
  • Your GA4 is connected to your site but Collection website and app data is Not started. Now Click on the Greater then arrow (>) behind of the Not started.
  • Now you will get the small popup notification then click on Mark as Complate.
  • Collection website and app data showing DATA NOT FOLLOWING so, now click on Data Streams option.
  • Click on the Greater then (>) arrow on Data Streams section.
  • After Click on the Greater then (>) arrow you can see the next slide popup page. Now you can see the warning message and click on the View tag instructions button. You will redirect to the GA4 installation instructions page.
  • Install with a website builder or CMS - If you manage your site using one of the platforms Site Kit Plugin or Monsterinsights plugin on wordpress, Wix, Squarespace, Duda, Durpal, Typo3, one.com , you can finish setting up your Google tag without making changes to your code. Just type your website adress and Scan. If you are using other platforms like Blogger Click on Install manually.
  • Now you can get the Google Analytics tag for the account. Copy the Google Analytics tag code and paste it in the between of the header tag or just below the <head> or just above the </head> element. Don’t add more than one Google tag to each page.

    Google Analytics for Firebase

    To upgrade your Firebase account to Google Analytics 4, follow these steps:

    1. Log in to the Firebase console.
    2. Go to Analytics > Dashboard on the left panel.
    3. Click “Begin upgrade” in the banner at the top of the page.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade.
    5. Once upgraded, you can find app analytics in both the Firebase console and Google Analytics.
